Date Rules

Date rules are used by steps within the Standard designer.  They will appear when you select "Offset Date" in the detail of a step.

Select File ► Maintenance ► Central Workflow ► Date Rules, the Date Rules window appears:

A predefined list of date rules exists, however it is possible to add additional bespoke rules.

Double click on the blank line, the Date Rule window appears:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Description

Enter the required description e.g. 2 months after the end of the financial year. This description is visible when using the workflow designer.

Date Rule Type

Select from the drop-down list:

Offset – Use of the offset option activates the Months – Reference Date boxes.

Date – This turns on the Date field.

Day of Week – This triggers the Day of Week and Recurrence options.

Months

Used in Conjunction with Offset Rule – this allows you to specify a deadline offset by a number of months either before or after the reference date.

Days

Used in Conjunction with Offset Rule – this allows you to specify a deadline offset by a number of days either before or after the reference date.

Hours

Used in Conjunction with Offset Rule – this allows you to specify a deadline offset by a number of hours either before or after the reference date.

Minutes

Used in Conjunction with Offset Rule – this allows you to specify a deadline offset by a number of minutes either before or after the reference date.

Seconds

Used in Conjunction with Offset Rule – this allows you to specify a deadline offset by a number of seconds either before or after the reference date.

Reference Date

Used in Conjunction with Offset Rule – this allows you to specify a deadline offset based upon a reference date.

Note: When using offset days with a reference date of "Current Date" it is not possible to select the Before option.

Date

Days are calculated by reference to a specific date – this can either be year specific or every year. Select the relevant entry from the Date Box

Day of Week

These days can be specified be ticking the relevant box or boxes.

Recurrence

From the drop-down list select Weekly, First in month, etc.

Inactive

Date rules that are no longer required can be marked as Inactive.

To add a date rule:

  1. Add a description e.g. 2 months after the end of the Financial Year
  2. Select the Date Rule Type from the pick list:
    1. Offset
    2. Date
    3. Day of Week
  3. Enter the relevant parameters. The options available are contingent upon the Date Rule Type selected.
  4. Click OK.

The Date Rules window is updated:

It is possible to search the rules for specific criteria e.g. "31 January Billing Month End" etc.  Enter the relevant criteria in the "Search for" field.

To edit an existing date rule, double click the description and the "Date Rule" window will open.
