How to restore a database using the CCH Backup and Restore Utility.
Restore Database File

To restore a database using an existing backup file, on the main menu, click File > Restore Database.
- In the Restore Database window, select the backup file by clicking the Ellipsis button
in the Backup file field.
Within the Select backfile to restore window browse to the backup file you want to restore.
The utility recognises the database that the backup file is associated with and automatically populates the rest of the fields.
- Restore As – This is the database name that will be restored using the file specified in the Backup file field. If this is not the database that you would like to restore, delete the database name and type the name of the database required.
- Data File – This is the location of the data file associated with the database. If the path is not correct, click in the field and change the information to point to the correct data file path.
- Log File – This is the location of the log file associated with the database. If the path is not correct, click in the field and change the information to point to the correct log file path.
- When you are happy that all the information provided is correct, click OK to restore the database.
You will see a status bar at the bottom of the window indicating the progress of the database restoration.
- When the restoration is complete, click OK to close the window.
How to create a Central user.
This is necessary for CCH Central to login to a chosen database.
Note: Creating the Central User is only required to be run if a database has been restored from another SQL instance backup.
- From the CCH Backup and Restore Utility menu, select Tools > Create Central User.
- In the Create Central User window:
- Server - This field indicates the server instance that you are logged in to.
- Database - Select the database from the drop-down list that the Central user will be created for and click OK to create the Central user.
- In the confirmation prompt, click Yes to create the Central user.
