Applying Dimensions

There are a number of instances where the same tag is used but the figure to which it is applied is different because it represents a sub analysis of the total figure. There are also other instances where additional information is required in respect of a tag. CCH iXBRL Review & Tag uses Dimensions to  provide this further level of analysis/disclosure for a tag. 

A good example is where the Turnover/gross operating revenue tag sometimes has to be analysed between continuing operations and discontinued operations. A dimension is included in the Taxonomy called Operating activities and this has elements representing the possible sub analysis of turnover. Clicking on the Dimension tab at the foot of the Taxonomy listing will display the list of dimensions.
