Removing Companies from Groups

Product Help Banner.png

This section explains how to remove companies to a group. This should only be done where a company has been added in error. If a company has ceased being a member of the group, a date for leaving the group should be entered instead.

Remove a client from a group

Open the client record for the company you wish to remove from the group.

Navigate to the client's Associated tab.

Select the row with the group association on.

Select Delete in the Associated tab in the ribbon.

After you confirm you wish to delete the association, the company will no longer be listed under Group Companies on the Tax Group tab when you next open the group parent's client record.

Remove a contact from a group

A contact can be removed from a group via the Associated tab of either the contact or the client acting as the group parent.

Open the contact record for the company you wish to remove from the group or the client record for the group parent.

Navigate to the client's Associated tab.

Select the row with the group association on.

Select Delete in the Associated tab in the ribbon.

After you confirm you wish to delete the association, the company will no longer be listed under Group Companies on the Tax Group tab when you next open the group parent's client record.

Use of the end date

Where a company ceases to be a member of a group, the association should not be removed. Instead, an end date should be added for the relationship.

An end date can be added in the Tax Group tab for the client acting as the group parent. In the Group Companies section, add a date in the Date left group column.

Alternatively an end date can be added directly to the company's record. Navigate to the client's Associated tab and enter a date in the End Date column for the group relationship. The date also appears in the Date left group column in the Group Companies section for the group parent company.
