Software Enhancements

Syncing of edited data to CCH iFirm

This release introduces the ability to automatically sync contact/client data with CCH iFirm once a change has been made within CCH Central.  Currently, the data sync includes:

  • Contact/Client name changes (including mailing name)
  • Client Code
  • Date of birth / Date of Death
  • UTR
  • NI Number
  • Company Registration number
  • Driving Licence / expiry date
  • Passport Number / expiry date
  • Telephone, email address
  • Addresses (that are linked to the 3 address types from CCH iFirm)
Sync Settings

To active this ability,  from CCH Central > Maintenance > User Defined > Configuration, set the iFirm_EnableUpdateContact Configuration Key value = 1; and within Maintenance > Security > Task Permission, grant an employee access to the #Employee #Main #CCH iFirm Login permission (within the CCH Central Product Group).

Exit CCH Central completely.  Re-access CCH Central, ensuring that the logged-in employee is the same employee who was granted the above task permission.

Open that employees' record > Main Tab.  Click the clipboard_ef63bdf6a176b02fa7fcd346865730969.png button.

You will be directed to the CCH iFirm login page.  Login and close the web page once you receive the 'success' message.

Once you are back in CCH Central, the following message advises you that a restart of CCH Central Services is required.

Exit CCH Central and perform the restart of the CCH Central Service.

Note: The CCH iFirm Login button is only active for the logged-in user accessing their employee record.

Once everything is connected, then 'Sync connected' is displayed next to the CCH iFirm button:

By default, the sync from CCH Central to CCH iFirm polls every 1 minute. To change this time, update the Key Value for the configuration key:  iFirm_CentralServiceSyncPollingTime, found within Maintenance > User Defined > Configuration.

Note:  If the sync is manually switched off; by changing the iFirm_EnableUpdateContact configuration setting to 0.  The sync status continues to be displayed as Sync connected and is not updated to show Sync disconnected.

This will be addressed later when the login and settings are moved to a maintenance option within CCH Central.

Note:  Errors encountered with the sync are logged against the service and can be accessed from Windows Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > CentraliFirmSyncService.

Note: When the Contact / Client Contact Type is changed, this is not included within the sync.  This is to be included in a later release.

Driver licence and Passport number validations

With the introduction of AML Biometrics within CCH iFirm, clients can prove their identity using non-UK identification.  As this identification (Drivers licence and Passport number) is filtered back and updated within CCH Central, the existing validations have been removed to allow for foreign identifications.
