Subscriptions for Venture Capital Trust Shares

A Venture Capital Trust (VCT) encourages individuals to invest indirectly in a range of small higher-risk trading companies to aid in their development into a successful business. By investing in a VCT, you may qualify for various income tax and capital gains tax relief. In addition, gains within a VCT exclude corporation tax.

How to open Subscriptions for Venture Capital Trust Shares

Under Tax Return Data, click Subscriptions for Venture Capital Trust Shares.

The Subscriptions for Venture Capital Trust Shares tab appears.

How to add a Venture Capital Trust

  1. Open the Subscriptions for Venture Capital Trust Shares tab.
  2. Enter the name of the Venture Capital Trust (VCT) in Name of Trust.
  3. In Amount Paid enter the value of shares subscribed up to a maximum of £200,000.
  4. Enter the Date of Issue, which must not be after the current tax year.

Note: You should keep all VCT certificates as HMRC may request these.
