Balances Brought Forward
Portfolios
For example, if you are loading a new portfolio on to the system for the period 6.4.20 to 5.4.21 then you need to use this screen to load details of all closing positions held at 5.4.20.
Once you have established the opening balance position for a given portfolio the balances will be updated with current transactions and carried forward automatically from year to year.
If you do not possess details of original acquisition dates and costs then simply load the total number of shares held on to the system leaving the cost fields blank. This will then allow the system to compute all dividends due on the holding together with all capital reorganisations, etc.
If there is subsequently a disposal of such a holding then the system will always produce a question mark within any computation where a cost is missing. The required information can then be researched accordingly on a "need to know" basis.
The screen contains the following fields:
- Security Code: Enter the Code for the Security in question.
If you are unaware of the Code then this can easily be established by invoking the Security Code Lookup. To do this simply position your cursor within the Security Code field and then either double click or press the F5 key. - Acquisition Code or Date: The tranche date is used by the system to keep each parcel of shares separate for identification purposes.
