Opening Book Values

Product Help Banner.png

The Opening Book window should be used to enter the opening book cost for each security. The book cost is used by the profit and loss calculation on the Investment Schedule.

Book Cost

The profit and loss calculation works on the basis that all shares in the security share an average cost. The book cost may well be different to the CGT cost as the CGT identification rules have often not worked on an average cost basis.

Description

Security Code

If you are unaware of the Code then this can easily be established by invoking the Security Code Lookup Facility. To do this simply position your cursor within the Security Code field and then either double click or press the F5 key on your keyboard.

Book Value Cost

Enter the total book value for the holding as of the close of business on the day prior to the period start date. This will be the total book value for all the tranches in the security.
